Events

I have attended some brilliant events in Capel over the past few weeks. The Plots and Pilots garden safari, Capel School fete and Battle of Britain Memorial day were events that show Capel at its finest and all events were blessed with fantastic weather. Further afield the Alkham and Hougham fetes were equally successful which shows the strength of community in our village cluster. A huge well done goes to all of the organisers and volunteers at these events, the amount of work that goes into making them happen is tremendous and you should all be very proud of your efforts.

Crime

Various incidents have been dealt with this month including:-

Damage to phone boxes along the B2011;

Damage to cars and tyres let down on 11th July;

Theft of lead flashing;

1 x Domestic burglary;

Incidents of indecent exposure.

Scams

Villagers have been targeted with a number of scams this month firstly ‘PC online care’ have been contacting people by phone saying they can speed up your Microsoft system. Do not follow their directions to press buttons on your computer or give them any card or bank details or you will end up losing your settings, data and money.

Similar scams are from a caller purporting to be representing EDF saying they can save you 40% on your bill and one from a company claiming your bank has to pay back any money it has charged you over the years and the figure waiting for you is xxx (for example £900) in all cases they are after your bank, card and/or personal details. Don’t fall for it.

Trading standards have been targeting waste carriers collecting door to door please let Gretel or me know if you have problems with these vehicles (registration numbers if you can get them please).

Lost and Found

I have been informed of a Nokia phone and an Ipod lost in two separate incidents in the village. Also a set of keys have been found in the area of the village hall glass recycling. Please contact me if you have found or lost these items.
