Warden's Rambles - June 2010

Scams

Scam activities throughout the area include fake RNLI collection bags, Bogus workmen highlighting repairs they have noticed need doing on your property and will discount the cost as they are “only working round the corner” and.unlicensed waste carrier vans collecting scrap.

The phone calls where a caller with a foreign accent purports to have found a fault with your computer is a scam bid to access your details, just tell them you know it’s a scam and hang up.

Trading Standards are also urging people to be wary of mailing gold to companies to be valued (safer to physically take it to a local jewellers) also be extra careful when buying event tickets online as there are many fake suppliers at the moment.

If in any doubt about any transaction please err on the side of caution.

Security Advice

PCSO Stevens and I held a marking and security advice day in May in each of the residential parks. If any other residents would like general security advice or security marking please call either of us on the numbers below.

Parking

I know I have highlighted complaints about parking around the village before but it seems there are a minority that insist on parking without regard for anyone else. There should be no need to park on the footpath or on junctions and it could mean your vehicle gets a ticket or towed away!

Football

The Communities Challenge Cup football tournament organised jointly by Kent Police and Kent Community Wardens will be taking place on Thursday 19th August 2010.
The age group for this tournament is 12-14 inclusive.

Capel have held the cup since 2008 but as some of our players have now crossed the upper age limit we are on the lookout for new talent, .if you would like to be considered for the team please call me on the number below.

Charity Cycle Ride

I will be cycling the 56 miles from London to Brighton on the 20th June 2010 in aid of the British Heart Foundation. If anyone would like to support this worthy cause you can do it online at http//original.justgiving.com/paul.james7 or I will be around at the farmers market on Tuesday mornings.

Any comments concerning the village can be raised on the numbers below.
