Warden's Rambles - April 2011
Posted by Webmaster on Saturday, March 19, 2011
Spring is here but it’s not only the daffodils that have been sprouting for those residents in the Albany/ Alexandra road area. Water mains replacement has seen this and other areas a forest of orange and white barriers and cones. The positive side to this is that most of the work has now been completed. However, Kent Highways are planning to resurface some of the rural roads heading out to Hougham and Alkham Valley very soon so look out for the diversion signs.
Waste collector vans
With the price of many metals at an all time high the number of flat-backed vans seen cruising the village looking for scrap and other items has increased dramatically. If you allow these people to take your items without ensuring they have the correct waste carriers licence and they are subsequently found to be carrying or tipping your waste YOU are likely to be held responsible. You will be called in by the council for interview and could face fines for environmental crimes. (this has happened locally). If it is possible and safe to do so please take the vehicle registration, time and any descriptions and I will forward it to Kent trading standards for verification.
Easter
There will be an Easter Special Farmers Market on the morning of the 19th April including an egg hunt in the park area. Registration will in the hall on the day so get your bonnet on and join in!
Neighbourhood Watch
If you register with NHW they will keep you informed of trends and crimes happening in your area in a format that suits you. For an information pack please contact Paul Brosnan 01233 896126 or email [email protected]
