First two recipients
A few years ago it was decided by the Parish Council to award a certificate of recognition for people of the Village who, in the Council’s opinion had made an outstanding contribution to the enhancement of village life. With this in mind, a number of nominations were made and the panel had the enjoyable task of putting forward two names as recipients of the Capel-le-Ferne Villagers Awards.
The first award went to a lady who is no stranger in the village, especially to the young people. For a number of years she has worked tirelessly for the Youth Club and been the mainstay of the activities and working of the Village Hall – always ready to volunteer to help with anything to do with village life. Therefore the Parish Council were pleased to award Mrs Barbara Brisley with a framed certificate of recognition.
The second award was to someone who, a number of years ago, came to our village from a state in Africa which had more problems than anyone could imagine. In Capel-le-Ferne, he and his family found peace and tranquillity and became a pillar of the community, giving help and support to the village in many ways. Without him in the village, we would have to go a long way for our daily paper or pint of milk. Mr Suresh Amin was given the second framed certificate with the Parish Council’s grateful thanks.
